Update: July 09
As the plot of 'Barbie in a Mermaid Tale' is released the sad truth that it is not a Fairytopia
film sets in:
"When Marisa, played by Barbie, discovers she is half-mermaid, she must
help the citizens of Atlantia by rescuing their queen—her mother. Marisa and her underwater friends have to complete
three tasks in order to release her mother from the clutches of the evil Eris, who longs to rule Atlantia."
It is still possible however the dolls will use the same template as the Fairytopia mermaids, and
they'll probably be quite nice anyway ^_^. Shame they had to throw a princess plot in again.

'Barbie in a Mermaid Tale' is set to be released next year, but will it be a Fairytopia tie-in?
I've wondered for a long time why there hadn't been a mermaid
only barbie film yet,as they already have the mechanics for it, but now it's here. There isn't much information about
it yet, but as the title has 'Barbie in a' rather than 'Barbie as' shows Barbie might not be playing the
main character in the film. We have seen the same thing in only a few movies, including in Thumbelina and Mariposa,
The Mariposa film of course being a Fairytopia film, and acknowledged as such, but not called Fairytopia. So will 'A Mermaid's
Tale' be set in Mermaidia, the water kingdom of Fairytopia? Will the models used for the dolls be the same as the Fairytopia/Mermaidia/Sea
Pixie ones? And will Elina make an appearance?

Update: March 09
At this years' Toyfair the first of 'Fairytopia Wingdom' collection were announced. And
although there only showed the four mini fairies that are soon to be released, 'Wingdom' has been copyrighted so it's
likely Mattel will be releasing more in this line soon, yay!
The Wingdom Mini Fairies are the same size as the flower pixies that were released in pairs
and the box of four Mariposa butterfly pixies (about 4") and they have the same body shape as these. The wings are
very different to the previous butterfly ones though, they're much more like the Thumbelina doll ones. Hopefully this
means other Wingdom dolls with have the same beautiful wings designs too.

Update: Feb 09
Still no word about another Fairytopia film being made - looks like 'a magical twist in time' was
indeed a fake. So will there be another one? Well Mattel are still making new dolls under the name so it's possible.
'Thumbelina' could have been another fairy film but it seems Mattel wants to keep the fairies
to one series, which is a good sign. Another aspect of 'Thumbelina' that makes me hopeful is that Barbie was not 'acting'
Thumbelina but acting again as a narrator like in Mariposa. This shows they really want to keep the Barbie fairy image
as Elina.
Well still we can hope, and see what 'Barbie and the Three Musketeers' is like.

Can this really be happening? Is Mattel really making a fifth Fairytopia film? Will we all have to
buy another box set!? It cannot be said yet.
There are only rumours going around at the moment but supposedly in February next year Fairytopia
A Magical Twist in Time will be arriving on DVD, along with many new dolls. The plot is apparently to do with Laverna eating
the Immunity Berry and twisting time back to when Elina had no wings. Of course Elina wouldn't sit back and let Laverna
take over so she has to find a special Golden Wand to defeat her. Yet again another travelling adventure, but this
time she is supposed to meet up with Mariposa and they save the day together.
Is it true? I don't think so. At least I don't believe another sequal is coming along so quickly. From
research I've done, the early 2009 slot has been given to 'Barbie Thumbelina'. This being a fairy movie I would
expect another Fairytopia epic being pushed back until another princess film has been released. Probably another 'friend'
movie with Tereasa.
